Scheme Objectives
The objective of the scheme is to encourage the education among the children of salt workers and to enable them to meet the initial expenses either partly or wholly, for purchase of books, stationary etc.

Coverage & Eligibility
Children of salt workers engaged in any of the salt works in India since last three consecutive year.
Only one child of the salt worker, who has passed he examination in first attempt and should continue his/her further studies.

The rewards are granted once in each academic year to the meritorious children of the salt workers, working in any of the salt work, to enable them to meet the initial expenses either partly or wholly, for purchase of books, stationary etc.

Children of salt workers engaged in any of the salt works in India since last three consecutive years are eligible. Only one child of the salt worker, who has passed the examination in first attempt and should continue his/her further studies are eligible.

A child of salt worker who desires to avail the reward, shall apply in the prescribed form to the Salt Commissioner’s Organisation through his parent’s employer.

The applications are scrutinized by SCO and preference is given, other things being equal, to the SC/ST/OBC applicants. Minimum 50% of the allocation per state is reserved for the girl applicants failing which may be given to male applicants.

While granting the rewards, the Salt Commissioner will be guided by the merit of the applicant.
